AIA#120 Lost in Translation…(Starbucks in China)

I slept well last night.  Even though I woke up a few times in the middle of the night.

I had these very strange, very realistic dreams.  There were ninjas and swords and danger, it was like a David Lynch movie or sorts.  Lots of darkness… Very weird the way dreams are weird.  But my sleep was so good, so I can’t complain.

Well, I had some things to do this morning then I walked down to Starbucks. I’m in a high traffic area here in Hangzhou and it’s a good area.

The sun is out and I’m walking down the street.  I make it to Starbucks. I can say, “ice Americano” in Chinese but the don’t understand what I’m saying.  Sometimes they understand me but thins boring they don’t.   I ask for an “Ice water” , One of the Chinese employees gives me a look.  Like, “What you want something else?”.  It’s fine. Maybe it’s China or she doesn’t like me.  I don’t know and I really don’t care.  I smile back.

I didn’t have anything to write about this morning.  So I’m just reporting the usual.  I feel like Albert Camus from the book “Killing an Arab”.  It’s about an office worker in Algeria and his life is very mundane.  He wakes up, he smokes, he eats eggs for breakfast, he goes to the movies.  Somehow Camus is able to make it into a novel.

Today, I’ll do some shopping.  I have to buy some long sleeve shirts because it’s getting cold outside and soon it’ll be winter.  I’m looking forward to doing some Wim Hoff Cold therapy, since the water was too warm in the summer.
